Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts: Animation Track

The BFA in Digital Arts: Animation Track emphasizes concepts and technical practices essential to the production of 2D and 3D computer animation and new media. Students will explore the role of animation and new media within contemporary culture, its potential for artistic output, and creative storytelling. Students graduating from this track will seek careers in animation, motion graphics, Flick/Boob tube, and related fields. This track offers an intensive class of report in animation, storytelling, character design, video product, and new media.

Admission Requirements

All applicants must run across Academy minimum admission requirements. Candidates for the BFA in Digital Arts: Blitheness Track will be required to submit electronically a portfolio of their works with a brusque statement.A departmental committee will review the portfolios. The focus of the review will be on quality work, technical ability, and consistency. This volition assist the program to improve suggest students in a course sequence designed for student success. The department utilizes the GetAcceptd.com service for the portfolio submissions.

For transfer students, no more than 60 credits tin can be transferred into the BFA program.  For current FIU art students who are interested in the BFA programme, no more sixty credits can be earned at the time of application deadline (February 15 for Fall / October xv for Spring).

Academic Standards

To progress into upper-partition BFA in Digital Arts: Animation Rail courses, students must consummate the 4 lower division foundation courses (12 credits) with a minimum GPA of 2.75 or greater in two attempts or fewer.

These courses include:

  • Art 1201C second Design
  • ART 1203C 3D Design
  • Fine art 2300C Commencement Drawing
  • Fine art 2330C Beginning Effigy Drawing

Drops after the add/drop period, which result in a DR grade are considered an attempt in the grade and count equally an unsuccessful enrollment. Students who do not satisfy this requirement will be brash to modify major to other degrees such as BA in Art History or BA in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Portfolio Requirements:

Portfolios are reviewed by a commission of faculty members. Images must be in 300 dpi JPEG format and videos in Mp4 or Mov format. All artwork must include the post-obit data at the bottom of the artwork as part of the file uploaded:

Option 1

• v images of observational drawings and/or figurative drawings.
• xv images representing skill and creativity in animation such as: 2nd and/or 3D animations, character design, storyboards, digital illustrations, video and audio samples, etc.
